Frisco vs. Plano: how to actually choose
Both are excellent. The right answer depends on commute, home age and what you want within ten minutes of your front door.

"Frisco or Plano?" is the most common question we hear from people moving to North Texas. Here's the framework we use, with no rankings and no hype.
1. Where do you drive every day?
If your work is at Legacy, both are close, and West Plano is usually closer. If you head into Uptown or Downtown Dallas regularly, Plano saves you real time. East Plano adds DART rail as an option. If your work is in Frisco or along SH 121, Frisco wins.
2. How new do you want the house to be?
Plano is largely built out, with homes mostly from the 1980s–2000s, mature trees and established streets. Frisco has far more 2010s and new-construction inventory. Newer usually means fewer immediate repairs, but often smaller lots and sometimes MUD or PID taxes.
3. What's your carrying cost, not just your price?
Compare the full tax rate for each specific address, HOA dues and insurance. Two homes at the same price can differ by hundreds of dollars a month.
4. What do you want nearby?
Frisco centers on sports and entertainment: The Star, Toyota Stadium and Riders Field. Plano has Legacy West's walkable dining, Willow Bend and, on the east side, a historic downtown with rail.
